Zoe Saldana was born on the 19th of June, 1978, in Passaic, New Jersey, to Asalia Nazario and Aridio Saldana. Her parents, Aridio and Asalia were both born in Puerto Rico. Her parents raised her within Queens, New York. Her family moved to Dominican Republic at the age of 10 where they would stay for the rest of seven years. Zoe's passion for dance was piqued while they were living in the Dominican. Zoe started her dance training with ECOS Espacio de Danza Dance Academy. Apart from providing a creative outlet for the young and enthusiastic student and her training in dance would prove as a crucial factor to her first professional career as an actor. When she was 17 years old, Zoe and her family returned home to the United States where her love for dancing grew and her desire to perform in the theater grew more intense.
