April Ross

April Ross was one of only a few women beach volleyball players who have won medals during several Olympics. It was a successful run for Ross at the school. In 2000, as a freshman the Trojans' performance earned her the Pac-10 and NCAA Young Player of the Year awards. In 2000, her Trojans made it to the Final Four. She endured a great personal defeat in her sophomore year however, she was successful in achieving the All-American award. Over the course of her final two seasons with the Trojans she was instrumental in helping them win consecutive championships. The individual accomplishments of her have established her place as a legendary volleyball player. She won the Honda Sports Award 2003-04 for the nation's best female collegiate player. Ross was a student of International Relations at USC. Margie Ross, Ross' mother, did not have the privilege of watching her daughter become a beach volleyball superstar. As of 2001, when Ross was a sophomore at USC her mother passed away due to breast cancer. She continues to cherish her late parent. Margie is a source of inspiration, both off and on of the shore.
