Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington has been an Greek American columnist, author and businesswoman for more than 20 years. She has written fifteen books and is the cofounder of The Huffington Post. Arianna Huffington has been an actor, journalist, philanthropist and author for more than 10 years. Her role also includes being the owner of The Huffington Post, an independent, liberal online newsmagazine. Originally from Greece she was able to move to England at the age of sixteen and then graduated from Cambridge University with an MA in Economics. The first non-English student, she was elected President of The Cambridge Union' at age 21. Following the graduation ceremony, she became a well-known right-wing syndicated reporter. After a few years later, she founded The Huffington Post which featured critical commentary on the current politics. It was possible for her to recruit several prominent contributors who posted their opinions regarding politics and culture. Arianna first gained notoriety when she ran for California's recall election, replacing then Governor Davis. Also, she was the head of the Detroit fuel-efficient car project. Forbes declared her to be as one of the "most powerful women" in the media industry and ranked her 12th. Guardian placed her on their list of the 100 most important media figures in 2009. AOL Inc. bought The Huffington Post in 2011 and appointed her as the president of their media company and also included several additional AOL products like Engadget AOL Music Style list as well as Patch Media. Elli was the son of Konstantinos, a management and journalism consultant. Her character was formed by her closeness to her mother, and the bond she shared with her dad, despite being extremely close to her father. Even during her formative period, she displayed leadership skills for which her name is still well-known. At 16 years of age she emigrated back to United Kingdom to pursue her study and then enrolled at Girton College Cambridge. While in college she joined the college debating Society Cambridge Union where she became the third foreign, and first female president. She graduated in 1972 with an MA in Economics. She became a writer, a critic television host, and columnist upon her graduation. She also appeared with Bernard Levin in an episode of Face the music and started creating books with his editing assistance.
